DO YOU remember the last time you fell on your knees to pray for your
mentor, your pastor, your employer or some other authority figure in your
life?
1 Timothy 2:2-3 says "Pray for kings and others in power, so that
we may live quiet and peaceful lives as we worship and honor God. This
kind of prayer is good, and it pleases God our Savior."
Those in power among our Native people, such as teachers, tribal
officials, church leaders, as well as other community authorities need
prayer!
TODAY, I INVITE YOU to pray with me that Believers throughout the country
will remember to pray for our leaders and rulers serving our Native
people.
1 Timothy 2:8 says, "I want everyone everywhere to lift innocent
hands toward heaven and pray, without being angry or arguing with each
other."
Ask our Creator to allow our rulers, leaders and all those in power
among our First Nations people to be remembered today in prayer and
thanksgiving.
ADDITIONAL SCRIPTURES (4 translations: The Scriptures, CEV, Amplified, KJV):
"The Scriptures" is a translation that includes the original Hebrew names
and has the books in chronological order. The Contemporary English
Version (CEV) is a translation that is written for 'oral tradition'
peoples and it flows well while reading it aloud. The Amplified
version is one where meanings of words and phrases are 'amplified' for
better understanding. The King James Version (KJV) is the
translation that works well with Strong's Concordance. Please also note
the links to Scripture in Cherokee.
1 Timothy 2:1-3, 8 - "First of all,
then I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be made
for all men, for sovereigns and all those who are in authority, in order
that we lead a calm and peaceable life in all reverence and seriousness. For
this is good and acceptable before Elohim our Savior, ... So I resolve that
the men pray everywhere, lifting up hands that are set-apart, without wrath
and disputing." (The Scriptures)
1 Timothy 2:1-3, 8 - "First of all, I ask you to pray for everyone.
Ask God to help and bless them all, and tell God how thankful you are for
each of them. Pray for kings and others in power, so that we may live quiet
and peaceful lives as we worship and honor God. This kind of prayer is good,
and it pleases God our Savior. ... I want everyone everywhere to lift up
innocent hands toward heaven and pray, without being angry or arguing with
each other." (CEV)
1 Timothy 2:1-3,8 - "First of all, then, I admonish and urge that
petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be offered on behalf of
all men. For kings and all who are in positions of authority or high
responsibility, that [outwardly] we may pass a quiet and undisturbed life
[and inwardly] a peaceable one in all godliness and reverence and
seriousness in every way. For such [praying] is good and right, and [it it]
pleasing and acceptable to God our Savior. .. I desire therefore that in
every place men should pray, without anger or quarreling or resentment or
doubt [in their minds], lifting up holy hands." (Amplified)
1 Timothy 2:1-3, 8 - "I exhort therefore, that, first of all,
supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all
men; For kings and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet
and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and
acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; ... I will therefore that men
pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting." (KJV)

for these alone, but also for those believing in Me through their word,"
(The Scriptures)
John 17:20 - "I am not praying just for these followers. I am also
praying for everyone else who will have faith because of what my followers
will say about me." (CEV)
John 17:20 - "Neither for these alone do I pray [it is not for their
sake only that I make this request], but also for all those who will ever
come to believe in (trust in, cling to, rely on) Me through their word and
teaching," (Amplified)
John 17:20 - "Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which
shall believe on me through their word;" (KJV)

the Master in whom they had believed." (The Scriptures)

in Whom they had come to believe [being full of joyful trust that He is the
Christ, the Messiah]." (Amplified)

and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they

Chapter 14 in Cherokee
James 5:13-16 - "Is any of you
suffering evil? Let him pray. Is anyone in good spirits? Let him sing
psalms. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the
assembly, and let them pray over him, having anointed him with oil in the
Name of the Master. And the prayer of the belief shall save the sick, and
the Master shall raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he shall be
forgiven. Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another,
so that you are healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous one accomplishes
much." (The Scriptures).
James 5:13-16 - "If you are having trouble, you should pray. And if
you are feeling good, you should sing praises. If you are sick, ask the
church leaders to come and pray for you. Ask them to put olive oil on you in
the name of the Lord. If you have faith when you pray for sick people,
they will get well. The Lord will heal them, and if they have sinned, he
will forgive them. If you have sinned, you should tell each other what you
have done. Then you can pray for one another and be healed. The prayer of an
innocent person is powerful, and it can help a lot."
James 5:13-16 - "Is anyone among you afflicted (ill-treated,
suffering evil)? He should pray. Is anyone glad at heart? He should
sing praise [to God]. Is anyone among you sick? He should call in the church
elders (the spiritual guides). And they should pray over him, anointing him
with oil in the Lord's name. And the prayer [that is] of faith will
save him who is sick, and the Lord will restore him; and if he has committed
sins, he will be forgiven. Confess to one another therefore your faults
(your slips, your false steps, your offenses, your sins) and pray [also] for
one another, that you may be healed and restored [to a spiritual tone of
mind and heart]. The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a
righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]."
(Amplified)
James 5:13-16 - "Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any
merry? let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? let him call for the
elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in
the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and
the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be
forgiven him, Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another,
that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man
availeth much." (KJV)
